This may seem to be a bit much in the "inside baseball" department, but former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty bagged another top hire this week--pollster Jon Lerner. He worked on the Senate campaigns for a couple of successful Republican candidates last fall, Mike Lee of Utah and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, and two 2010 GOP gubernotorial winners, Nikki Haley of South Carolina and Sean Parnell of Alaska.
It seems that Lerner had his choice of presidential candidates. "The candidate who becomes the nominee of our party is the one who can most credibly speak to the cluster of voters that are heavily motivated by economic and size-of-government concerns, and Tim Pawlenty’s record and positions on those issues are very compelling," Lerner told the Washington Post.
