Omaha public-sector union flyers: People's safety at risk

Omaha's skyline from Council Bluffs
If patronage is the last refuge of the scoundrel, then panicking unsuspecting citizens is the last refuge of public-sector union workers.

Omaha firefighers have lowered themselves to walking door-to-door in Nebraska's largest city with fliers reading, "Attention Omaha residents: your safety is being compromised," the Omaha World-Herald is reporting.

Budget concerns have forced the city to close two fire units, which the newspaper says consists of "an ambulance, a pumper truck, a ladder truck, a hazardous materials unit."

The firefighter's union is calling attention to a recent close-call involving a rescue of a woman from an aparment building blaze. But two city council members say the woman was quickly brought to safety by firefighters.

Sadly, I expect to hear about more stories like this one.
