Chicago Tea Party, February 27, 2009 |
The birthday of the Tea Party movement isn't universally agreed upon.
Rick Santelli's CNBC rant, which took place on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, occurred on February 19, 2009, but the first tea parties, under the umbrella of the Nationwide Chicago Tea Party, didn't take place until February 27.
I'm going with February 27.
Happy birthday to the Tea Party movement!
If you look closely, I think you can see the farmer in the American Gothic statue smiling.
