50-state capitol union protest a flop

"We'll always have Madison."
William A. Jacobson of Legal Insurrection did some research and found that Saturday's union-organized rallies at the 50 state capitols were big flops, with the exception of Madison. The goal of the powwows was to offer solidarity to the public-sector unions in Wisconsin who are abetting the financial insolvency of that state and many others.

As for the anemic turnout, only 1,000 showed up in front of the State of Illinois building in Chicago according to Reuters. Had I known about it, there would have been 1,001--I would have loved to have reported on it, but then again, watching "The King's Speech" was a fabulous way to spend two hours. Regarding the the Chicago rally, somehow, Robert Creamer, the ex-con husband of my congresscritter, Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), inflated that to crowd to eight to ten thousand in Huffington Post.

Jacobson notes that liberal blogger David Dayen of Firedoglake one million would turn out at the rallies.

As I noted two nights ago, at least one group of bused in protesters was in Madison on Saturday.
