The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the US Energy Information Agency says there is a "slim chance" the nationwide average price of gasoline could top $4-per-gallon by September.
Which means there is a better chance that I will be paying more than that by then. Chicagoans already pay the most for gasoline according to the Lundberg Survey--$3.35 per gallon. It's just a few cents less in Morton Grove.
As you know, Illinois' personal income tax is 67 percent higher now. Taxes are why I am paying so much for gas--which is something to use as a retort when someone defends our "comparatively low" state income tax rate.
The rest of the nation? They are laughing at us.
