Earlier this year, the meddlesome US Environmental Protection Agency proposed that it crash into automobile dealerships and slap letter grades on car window stickers based upon their "greenness." "A+" would be the highest, which is presumably what the taxpayer-subsidized Chevrolet Volt would receive.
Earlier this month Big Government reported that 53 members of Congress--from both parties--wrote a letter to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson and Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood decrying the rating system.
When the proposals were released, it was criticized by the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and even some greenies. Just 18 percent of Edmunds.com readers back the grade system.
