Obama backing off 2011 Afghanistan withdrawal

Yesterday I reminded readers that President Obama still hasn't been able to close the Guantanamo Bay terrorist detention center--even though he signed an executive order on his first full day of office almost two years ago that he would do so within a year.

Last year he pledged to begin withdrawing US troops from Afghanistan next summer. But the New York Times is reporting that date may be pushed back to 2014.

I'm glad these deadlines aren't being met--but Obama's netroots base won't be.
