Dems' fortunes plummeting as Obama heads to Ohio

President Obama travels to suburban Cleveland this morning to sell his latest stimulus plan. The first one, the $862 billion boondoggle, was a failure.

Breaking the trend of running away from the unpopular president, Lee Fisher, the Democratic candidate for the open Senate seat in the Buckeye State, will be there when the spending proposals are announced, as will Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), who is not up for reelection this year.

Rob Portman, the Republican who is running against Fisher, leads the Democrat by 13 percentage points according to one poll.

Yesterday the Washington Post moved the race to "Leans Republican." I don't think the neo-stimulus can save Fisher.
