White Sox-Cubs BP Cup not so coveted

Since the start of interleague play, one of the highlights on the Chicago sports scene each June has been the Crosstown Series between the White Sox and the Cubs. But this year is different, the Chicago Blackhawks are the Stanley Cup champions--they are being honored by a ticket tape parade this morning. And the baseball on the North and South Sides has been mediocre.

As for the rivalry between Chicago's baseball teams, apparently the games weren't enough, so in the spirit of Big 10 football, a trophy to the winner has been added. It's a cup that White Sox radio announcers Ed Farmer and Darrin Jackson have described as "coveted."

There's just one problem: It's the BP Crosstown Classic Cup.

Haven't Chicago baseball fans suffered enough?
