Kirk raises $1 million more than Giannoulias

Despite Illinois' status as a blue state--I'm hoping that will change--Republican Senate candidate Mark Kirk raised $1 million more than his Democratic opponent, State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, in the first three months of this year.

The Highland Park congressman raised $2.2 million, Giannoulias collected $1.2 million.

Kirk issued this statement this morning:

I am humbled by the outpouring of support from citizens across the State of Illinois who support our efforts to create jobs, lower taxes and fight corruption. After Rod Blagojevich and Roland Burris, Illinois voters are looking for clean government and they will have a clear choice in the coming election.
Eighty percent of Kirk's cash came from Illinois contributors.
