House Speaker Nancy Pelosi seems to think she has the votes to pass ObamaCare, but she has one less of them tonight. Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) will resign his House of Representatives seat over a sexual harassment scandal involving a male staffer. Two other resignations, and the death of Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) has, based on last fall's vote, eliminated Pelosi's majority. Remember, the Democrats' health care reform bill passed by just two votes.
On the Republican end, Rep. Nathan Lane (R-GA) says he will delay his resignation so he can vote against ObamaCare. And the one Republican who voted for the bill last year, Joseph Cao of Louisiana, says he will vote against it this time around.
But Pelosi might share the same fate of the Wicked Witch of West; Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) might drop the House on the speaker if he pulls enough pro-life Democrats away and dooms ObamaCare.
