Ill. Dem congressman touts stimulus project, but he voted "present" on the bill

The Democrats have gained giddy pleasure by pointing the finger at Republicans who voted against the $800 billion economic stimulus bill, but pound their chests when the stimulus pork is handed out.

Then there is Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-IL), who in true Barack Obama fashion voted "present" on the stimulus bill.

You know where I'm headed with this...

Today a ground-breaking ceremony for a stimulus-funded rail yard project took place on Chicago's South Side, which Lipinski boasted would cut commuter train delays and "create an estimated 1,450 jobs and give the local economy a much-needed boost by increasing transportation efficiency." Crain's Chicago Business' Greg Hinz contacted Lipinksi on the phone about this inconsistency, and the southwest suburban congressman said he voted "present" because not enough infrastructure projects were included in the bill.

If that is so, then why didn't he simply vote against it? Lipinski was the only member of the House to vote "present" on the stimulus bill.
