As I blogged last night, Mayor Frank Melton was rushed in an ambulance to a Jackson, Mississippi hospital shortly after polls closed last night.
Melton failed in his reelection quest, coming in third in yesterday's Democratic Primary.
A Jackson official said that the mayor is "resting" while he remains hospitalized.
The controversial Melton was briefly kicked off the primary ballot after his residency was challenged. In its report on Melton's condition, the Clarion-Ledger had this revealing sentence, "Ellen Melton (the mayor's wife) is a physician and flew in from the couple's home outside of Tyler, Texas, last night.
