Gov. Quinn plans huge state income tax hike

Governor Patrick Quinn will propose a 50 percent increase in the state income tax for Illinois families making more that $56,000 a year.

For those unlucky people, most of them not rich, that will increase their state income tax rate to 4.5 percent. Living in Illinois, particularly in the Chicago area, is not cheap.

Thanks to a new county sales tax, Chicagoans already pay the nation's highest sales tax.

There are elections next year in the Land of Lincoln.
