Breaking news: Gov. Blagojevich taken into federal custody

Wow, a sitting governor taken into federal custody.

From the Chicago Tribune:

A source said today that Gov. Rod Blagojevich was taken into federal custody at his North Side home this morning. The U.S. attorney's office would not confirm the information.

A Blagojevich spokesman said he was unaware of the development. "Haven't heard anything -- you are first to call," Lucio Guerrero said in an e-mail.

The stunning, early morning visit by authorities to the governor's North Side home came amid revelations that federal investigators had recorded the governor with the cooperation of a longtime confidant and had begun to focus on the possibility that the process of choosing a Senate successor to President-elect Barack Obama could be tainted by pay-to-play politics.

Innocent until proven guilty, but I can't help feeling how great it would be if this was another step in the journey to clean up politics in Illinois and make government officials accountable and responsible.

WOW!!! I see why they arrested him. He was trying to play games with that Senate seat. So much for changing business as usual.

So, will the new president fire the Federal Prosecutor and pardon Blagojevich regardless of whether or not a trial has begun?

[Being from "out of town", forgive me if I missed some details of this ongoing saga.]

Even being from "out-of-town" has not clouded your vision of just exactly how things seem to operate around here.

Yeah Ms. Blagojevich is the poster
Child of Innocence. It's his
children who need the sympathy.

Dr. Evil Swooped down on the
Blagojevich story like a Vulture to
dead carcass. Dr. Evil hated this
guy from day one. George W. Bush
lied and so did his father, but he
is willing to overlook that! Of
course if there weren't Democrats
to skewer, he'd have to settle for
Republicans!

George W. Bush is the real reason
this country's economy is in the
shape it's in. But it's much
easier to blame the democrats!
