Southtown Star: Forget about Chicago pork from Obama

This is as it should be. Chicagoans should not expect a "pork parade" now that someone from Chicago will be sworn in as president in two months.

From the Southtown Star:

Since Election Day went to Barack Obama, locals have been busy dusting off their wish lists for the new president, writing down items such as a new Chicago Transit Authority circle line connecting the North and South Sides, an airport for the south suburbs and some extra dough to rebuild clogged expressways.

In Little Rock, Ark., home to President Bill Clinton, the presidential pork never came.

"That doesn't happen," said Skip Rutherford, dean of the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service. "But the world will start to see Chicago in a completely different light, as the city that gave us the 44th president. There is a tremendous benefit to that."

A completely different light? Little Rock had no image, other than being a small southern city. Chicago does.

George W. sure left one heck of a mess for Obama. Let's just hope we
don't have a repeat of 9/11 when
Obama takes office in 09.

I don't live in Chicago, but from
what I hear on the news it would
sure seem that it is!
