A few days ago, federal prosecutors filed a motion to postpone Rezko's October 28 sentincing "while the parties engage in discussions that could affect their sentencing postures."
Judge Amy St. Eve agreed with the prosecutors' request.
There are a lot of nervous politicians in Illinois, especially Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich.
Here's what CBS 2 Chicago has to say about the unpopular governor:
The governor talked at some length Tuesday about the U.S. Attorney's investigation into allegations of "pay-to-play" in his administration. He spoke out on the same day one of his former high ranking aides told CBS 2 News, "It appears the "G" [meaning the government] is closing in" on Blagojevich.
Last month the same source reported that federal prosecutors already have enough information to indict "Blago."
What does this have to do with Obama? Plenty. I just listened in on a McCain-Palin campaign call with former Sen. Peter Fitzgerald. The Inverness Republican is the only person to have served in the Illinois State Senate with Barack Obama and the US Senate with John McCain.
Regarding corruption in Illinois, Obama "always looked the other way," Fitzgerald said.
The Democratic presidential nominee must have serious neck problems, because he had to look away a lot while serving in Springfield and representing a Chicago district. His friend Rezko was a "player" in Illinois politics, albeit a small-to-medium sized operator, until 2003. That's when Blagojevich was sworn in as governor, and Rezko, began his schemes that US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald (no relation to the former senator), "pay-to-play on steroids."
And Obama, who was still a state senator in '03, just looked the other way.
