Public officials, protesters, reporters, bloggers, and curiosity seekers show up at national political conventions.
The gentleman on the right is a National Park Service forest ranger. He was handing out brochures in St. Paul's Rice Park during this month's Republican National Convention about the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, which passes through the Twin Cities.
He recommended to me the headwaters area of the great river, but it's four hours north of St. Paul. Another time, another trip.
