After enduring some torturous driving conditions during the latter part of my drive south on the Natchez Trace Parkway, I had the most joyous experience when I reached the historic city of Natchez, and the Father of Waters, the great Mississippi River. The rain ended for good, and the sun even came out for a little while.
It didn't rain again during my trip until I was in central Illinois.
