Although most of the ground near the North Branch of the Chicago River is brown, there are some patches of green here and there, such as this spot in the Bunker Hill Woods in Niles.
The last few days have been quite warm--today it's only in the mid 50s. Not too far from where I took this photograph I saw something that I haven't seen in months--a garter snake.
