Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat, is now so unpopular, that a bill to add a recall amendment to the state constitution--with "Blago" in mind--was approved earlier this month by the Illinois House. His approval ratings, remember this is deep blue Illinois, are lower than those of President Bush.It's laughable now, but at one time, Governor Elvis, who once bragged about his "testicular virility," dreamed of moving on to the White House.
As I blogged earlier today, star prosecution witness Stuart Levine finished his testimony this morning. Apologists for Illinois Democrats have made note that Levine is a Republican.
The prosecution's next witness, Joseph Cari, who like Levine has already pleaded guilty for his role in Rezko's alleged schemes, took the stand this afternoon.

Gov. Rod Blagojevich dreamed aloud about running for president and said big-money state contracts would be available to those willing to help, a national Democratic fundraiser testified Tuesday.
Joseph Cari, a former finance chairman for the Democratic National Committee, told Antoin "Tony" Rezko's fraud trial Blagojevich made the remarks aboard a plane en route to an October 2003 fundraiser in New York.
Blagojevich spoke of how excited he was following his election as governor in 2002 and his dreams for the future, Cari said.
"Also that he had aspirations beyond the governorship," Cari said.
"What did you understand by that?" prosecutor Reid J. Schar asked.
"Running for the presidency," Cari said.
Thank God the various scandals surrounding Blagojevich have permanently ended any hopes of "Blago" running for president. And the pathetic part of Cari's testimony is that Blagojevich viewed his proximity to state business as his stepping stone to Washington.
Blagojevich has not been accused of wrongdoing.
