First Lady Laura will attend the kickoff of the Abraham Lincoln bicentennial celebration Tuesday at the Lincoln birhplace site in Hodgenville, Kentucky. The president was invited too, but he will not be attending. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809--he shares the birthdate with Charles Darwin.
The bicentennial events will last two years, which is why it begins this year.
