It was a bad Tuesday for Democrat John Edwards and onetime Republican front runner Rudy Giuliani. Both are withdrawing from the presidential race today.
The early smart money, which isn't always correct, is that Giuliani's exit is will help John McCain--whom he'll endorse today--and Edwards' withdrawal will help Barack Obama. There is speculation that if elected president, Obama will name former trial lawyer Edwards as attorney general--a frightening prospect.
As for Rudy, it's a mighty fall for a truly great man.
