The talk-show superstar has endorsed Barack Obama from president, the fist time she's made her presidential choice public.
The duo just got finished at an event in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, now they're jetting to South Carolina.
I don't know if they're travelling together, but one subject Winfrey and Obama might want to discuss is the International Profit Associates sexual harassment scandal.
From Oprah's website, recalling a 2005 segment about the rampant sexual harassment allegations against IPA.
Denise and Charlotte, two women who once worked at International Profit Associates, a management-consulting firm in Chicago's suburbs, say they endured sexual harassment on the job.
Denise was hired after a job search in the sales department. Charlotte had taken a job with the same company years before, starting when she was 18 years old. Charlotte says she noticed early on that the male managers routinely made inappropriate comments to the female staff.
"The environment was horrible," Denise says. "The room that we worked in was like a men's locker room." Both women say they were subjected to repeated verbal and sexual abuse by coworkers and managers.
Over 100 women have filed harassment complaints against the Buffalo Grove, Illinois firm. The Better Business Bureau is investigating charges of deceptive marketing practices against IPA.
Hillary Rodham Clinton, Obama's chief rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, has accepted over $150,000 in contributions from IPA executives. None of it has been returned. Barack Obama did return the money IPA donated to his campaign.
Barack...mention that to Oprah.
Earlier this year the National Organization of Women, which claims to be the voice for empowering their gender, endorsed Hillary Clinton. As I remarked at the time, I'm not sure how much that will help her, since NOW endorsed the ignored and forgotten (even though it was just four years ago) presidential effort of Carol Moseley Braun.
But NOW should stand for something, and sexual harassment against women ought to be a primary focus of the leftist group. Sadly, when the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke, NOW's president Patricia Ireland, who later further indistinguished herself by serving as the campaign manager for Moseley Braun's campaign, didn't think Bill Clinton's oval office antics were such a big deal, because they were "consensual."
Later, Clintonista Vernon Jordan lined up a job for Lewinsky at Revlon--Jordan served on the board of directors of the cosmetics firm.
The message is...you mess around with the boss, you can land an attractive job. And NOW played along.
And now NOW is endorsing Hillary Clinton for president. Are they going to call for her to return those IPA donations?
And it's not just money. As Dan Curry of Reverse Spin reports, HRC spoke at an IPA function in 2004, and she rode on an IPA jet.
Don't hold your breath on any NOW denunciations regarding IPA and her royal pantsuit.
