Hewitt looked back to this 1978 graduation from Harvard--Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, "a Russian prophet," he called him, was the commencement speaker and the dissident was not optimistic. "We had lost," Hewitt recalled him saying, "that it was over, that the world had split apart and the west had lost its ability to fight back against Soviet imperialism and the spread of communism."
"He did not see it then," Hewitt continued, "but help was on its way and help was named Ronald Reagan."
He then added that conservatives often over-estimate their opponents, giving as examples the unions in Wisconsin and "the self proclaimed wizards behind the curtain in Chicago--and we think Axelrod was good was opposed to just lucky."
National defense wasn't discussed much during RightOnline, Hewitt's inclusion of it was needed. "We have another Pearl Harbor coming," he warned, "but this one is self-inflicted and it's called the sequestration and it can't be allowed to go forward."
"It has to be a part of our mission," Hewitt told the activists, "to tell people that the F-22 has been cancelled and the F-35 has been extended to almost non-consequence."
Well, I'm glad I've been covering those issues.
In his conclusion, Hewitt praised the late Andrew Breitbart, while promising that "more Breitbarts are coming."
