Local Tea Party activists are pressing House Republican leaders to pursue their investigation into the Operation Fast and Furious gun-tracking effort more aggressively.I'd like to add that House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa has been aggressively investigating the failed sting operation that put over 2,000 guns into the hands of Mexican gun cartels. One of these weapons was used to kill US Border Agent Brian Terry.
The top three House Republicans have been slow to lead the charge of the GOP’s criticism of the botched operation.
As a result, local Tea Party groups in the home districts of House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) are turning up the heat on the lawmakers.
On Saturday, Utah Republican candidate Carl Wimmer hosted an event with Gun Owners of America (GOA) that zoomed in on the Fast and Furious folly.
At that gathering, Larry Pratt, the GOA's president, had this to say:
We know from the documents that have been submitted into the hearing record that Fast & Furious was designed to get people killed and that the head of the ATF at the time took pleasure in briefings that reported on the increase in violent crime. As the whistle blowers have said, Fast & Furious violated everything that is taught in their academy. It is disappointing that the House leadership have not seen to it that resolutions of impeachment against the Attorney General and others be initiated on grounds of perjury and obstruction of justice.Technorati tags: politics news yes we can Republican gop Mexico méxico fast and furious Congress Democrats
