The Illinois Policy Institute released a study today showing that in 2009, the Land of Lincoln lost residents to 42 states, including each of the states that border Illinois. I can only imagine how much worse it is now. In January, Governor Pat Quinn signed into law a "temporary" tax increase that nearly doubled the corporate tax rate and hiked the personal income tax rate by 67 percent. And Illinois' unemployment rate is 10 percent, while the national jobless rate is 8.6 percent. IPI not only describes the illness, it prescribes remedies.
