Nebraska Senate race: Stenberg addresses BlogCon 2011

After succumbing to the lure of the "Cornhusker kickback" Sen. Ben Nelson became the 60th and deciding vote for ObamaCare. He's up for reelection next year and yes, he is vulnerable. But FreedomWorks, which sponsored last week's BlogCon11 in Denver, is seeking not just to unseat Nelson, but to replace him with a solid conservative. That is why it is endorsing Nebraska state treasurer Don Stenberg in the upcoming Republican primary. Prior to his speech on Saturday--sorry, but I missed the very beginning of it--the candidate and I spoke about his state and the charms of my favorite part of it, the beautiful Sandhills.

In regards to 2012, Stenberg declared, "It will be a great year for conservatives and for freedom in our country," Stenberg vows. Others are running for the GOP nomination, but Stenberg is firm about his conservative credentials. "There are already too many pretend conservatives in Washington DC," he said, "we certainly don't need any more."

Besides FreedomWorks, the Madison Project, Red State's Erick Erickson,, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), and radio talk show host Mark Levin have endorsed Stenberg.
