The not-very-mainstream-at-all Occupy Chicago movement marched again on this chilly November evening.
Wearing SEIU purple is Joe Iosbaker, chief steward of Local #73 and the target of an FBI investigation. Agents raided his home last fall, he claims it was an attempt at intimidation because of his anti-war activities. Rebel Pundit spotted Iosbaker at the OccupyCityHall march last month. He's standing on the LaSalle Street bridge where 46 members of Jobs Not Cuts were arrested. More on them later.
SEIU was out in force today. I took this photograph outside the State of Illinois building around 3:30pm. Why aren't they working? The one in the middle is a member of Iosbaker's local, which according to its website, represents 25,000 public-sector workers in Illinois and northwestern Indiana.
I asked this SEIU member which bridge needed fixing. She replied, "They didn't tell me that!" That's the American labor movement, my friends--they load up buses with oblivious protesters.
I've been to four Occupy Chicago marches and I'm seeing some of the same people at these rallies. I saw the woman holding the corporate flag in front of the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank five weeks ago--look for the "Stop Your Keynesian Bullshit" pic. Hey, there is another SEIU guy is in this photograph.
This man, who might be an extra from That 70s Show, is wearing a Ron Paul button. I've seen him at three other Occupy Chicago rallies, look for him in the bottom photograph. Oh, how do you rate Ashton Kutcher's performance in Two and a Half Men so far? Pity about the problems Kutcher is having with Demi Moore...I though they'd stay together forever.
Then-Senator Obama declared in 2008, "We are the ones we've been waiting for." We've become a nation of narcissists. Not good. Oh, if Obama loved America as half as much as he loved himself, that would be a big improvement for our nation.
Pictured are 10 of 46 members of Jobs Not Cuts who were arrested tonight.
Maybe just this one Occupy Chicago protester is against capitalism.
"Capitalism is not in crisis, capitalism is the crisis." There's a trend here, my friends.
YCL stands for Young Communist League. Not mainstream.
You won't see this sign in Chicago Tribune. Obscene signs--not mainstream either.
Around 6:00pm or so, the occupiers surrounded that tower of greed, the Chicago Board of Trade. I called one of this blog's readers, who is a broker there, he informed me that "Nothing goes on inside at that hour." I replied, "But didn't you tell me that there is night trading occurring after the exchanges close." He shot back, "John, it's all electronic." So the people inside the Board at night are mostly janitorial staff, not "one percenters." The yellow tape is a prop, it's not police tape.
The three sign-holders are members of the Chicago Teachers Union. Earlier this week it was revealed that their president, Karen Lewis, spoke to a group in Seattle where she made fun of the Secretary of Education's lisp and bragged about "smoking lots of weed" in college. Nice lady.
Chicago Board of Trade--its night cleaners are impressed, I'm sure. Oh, who pays for these banners?
How many were marching? My guess: 800. Yes, it was cold tonight, but they had three thousand at the first march I attended on October 15. The movement is whithering away.
More photos tomorrow morning.
