Johnny Cash on the 1937 Mississippi River Flood: Five Feet High and Rising

These are the final lines of the film Walk the Line:
Johnny Cash: Why don't you tell them about the flood? Tell 'em about how you made a boat out of the front door and got us all out of there. They'll like that.

Carlene Carter: Tell us!

Johnny Cash: Come on, tell 'em. You got to pull the string tight.

Ray Cash: It was 1937, there was a flood...
But the real Johnny Cash recalls the Great Mississippi River Flood a bit differently as he introduces "Five Feet High and Rising" roughly 25 years the Great Flood. Oh, don't let the hiccup of static early in the video bother you.

Both are wonderful, yet conflicting stories.

As you probably know, the current Mississippi River flooding has been compared to the 1937 deluge.
