House overwhelmingly approves bill aimed at illegal EADS subsidies

Chicago-based Boeing won a big legislative victory last night. By a 410 to 8 vote, the House of Representatives passed a bill that will compel the Defense Department to take into consideration illegal subsidies EADS, the parent of Airbus, has received from the European Union, as it bids on the $50 billion KC-X midair refueling tanker project.

EADS and Boeing are the only bidders on that jet.

As I've noted several times over that last few weeks, the Boeing proposal will mean more American jobs and a jet that will be better suited for combat situations. Of recent concern are reports that EADS recently marketed is products in Iran.

The Kathryn Report has more.
