Boeing raises national security issue regarding Air Force tanker proposal

Over the last couple of months I've presented reasons why the Boeing bid for the US Air Force KC-X refueling tanker should be chosen over an Airbus jet. Among those reasons are the Boeing plane is better suited for combat situations, it will mean more American jobs, that EADS, the parent of Airbus, isn't a fair-trader--it receives illegal government subsidies.

Reuters gives us one more reason to go with Boeing. EADS "'continues to do business with countries that are not friendly to the United States,' Timothy Keating, Boeing's vice president of government operations, told a small group of reporters." Keating says EADS recently promoted its products at a 2005 Iranian air show.

National security now figures into the equation, and Iran's interests and ours are of course much different.
