Blimey! Geico lizard fired over anti-tea party voicemail message

Okay, it's a teaser headline, but the voice of the English-accented Geico gecko spokesman, D.C. Douglas, has been fired after leaving an anti-tea party voicemail message for Freedom Works, a tea party organizing group.

In the message, Douglas inquires about "the percentage of people that are mentally retarded who are working for Freedom Works and who are following it."

Just last week, GEM Hotel executive Andrew J. Hendricks Tweeted this message, "crashing the Boston Tea Party express of retards in less than 24 hours."

Two rants, one theme.

But lizard-limey took it a step further: In his message he asks Freedom Works how it will "spin it when one of your members does actually kill somebody." I've been to seven tea parties, and I can assure you these are peaceful events attended by well-informed citizens who love their country, such as the patriotic gentleman pictured on the left, who I met when the Tea Party Express came to Rockford, Illinois.

Do you care to call him a retard, you reptile?

The Gecko is fine. The voice was the voice at the end of the commercials that said: 15 minutes could save you...

Repeat, the Gecko is safe!
