Chiraq: 7 dead and at least 52 wounded over weekend

While the nation's attention has been dominated by the assassination of three Baton Rouge police officers by a former Nation of Islam member, as it should be, the carnage in Chicago continued this weekend.

Seven people were murdered over the weekend--including a teen a half mile from President Obama's home--and at least 52 others were wounded.

If the Chicago Police weren't doing their job the slaughter would be much worse.

Baton Rouge cop assassin was Nation of Islam member

The left, including Barack Obama, has been winking at radical groups such as the Nation of Islam and their irresponsible statements for years. The same thing goes for the newer Black Lives Matter activists.

The assassin, at least one of them, of three cops in Baton Rouge--seven others were wounded--has been identified as Gavin Long.

A Youtube account operated by Gavin Eugene Long and discovered by The Daily Caller reveals key insight into what might have motivated the 29-year-old black man who killed three Baton Rouge police officers Sunday morning.

Videos on Long’s account show that he was a former Nation of Islam member. He also ranted against "crackers" and made references to Alton Sterling, the black man killed by police in Baton Rouge on July 5.

Last summer the leader of the racist NOI, Louis Farrakhan, said he was seeking "10,000 fearless men" to "rise up and kill those who kill us; stalk them and kill them and let them feel the pain of death that we are feeling!"

"Calypso Louie" was calling for the killing of whites. Where was Obama's outrage?

Breaking: Multiple cops shot in Baton Rouge: UPDATED

The war on cops continues.

Multiple law enforcement officers were shot and wounded Sunday morning in Baton Rouge, authorities said.

Sgt. Don Coppola with the Baton Rouge Police Department said the wounded officers were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Their conditions, as well as the total number of officers shot, were not immediately available. He was unsure whether the wounded officers are all members of the Baton Rouge Police Department.

Black Lives Matter activists have been protesting the shooting death by police of Alton Sterling. The tragic incident is still under investigation.

UPDATE 10:40am: CNN is reporting that three cops are dead and other seven have been wounded.

President Obama and his family won't be returning to Chicago after his term expires for at least a year. If ever.

Early this morning two teens were shot in the Kenwood neighborhood at 47th and Ellis, which is just a half-mile from the Obama mansion, you know, the one the future first family bought with help from political swindler Antoin "Tony" Rezko.

Prediction: Black Lives Matter protesters will not be picketing in Kenwood today.

Worse than Burr? Agnew? AFL-CIO boss calls Pence "second worst VP pick in history”

This morning Donald Trump officially named conservative Indiana governor Mike Pence as his running mate.

AFL-CIO boss Richard Trumka, who is not on the Trump Train, quickly called Pence "the second worst vice presidential pick in history." The portly union leader, whose fat has clearly gone to his head, didn't say which veep pick was the worst.

But there have been some seriously horrible vice presidents. I'm not even going to dig into the nominees who didn't get the nod from the electorate.

Clearly, according to Trumka's ill-logic, Pence is worse than three of these four men.

Aaron Burr is the most famous American ever charged with murder. While vice president under Thomas Jefferson he killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel. The homicide charges were later dropped. Burr was later charged with treason for attempting to form a new nation out of land from the Louisiana Purchase and Spanish possessions. He was acquitted.

John C. Breckinridge was the VP for arguably the worst American president in history, James Buchanan. He was one of two Democratic nominees for president in 1860, finishing a distant second to Abraham Lincoln in the electoral vote. After the Civil War broke out Breckinridge served as a general in the Confederate army even though his home state, Kentucky, remained loyal to the Union. He lived in self-imposed exile, fearing treason charges, until 1868 when Lincoln's successor, Andrew Johnson, issued a general amnesty for all ex-Confederates.

Although Ulysses S. Grant was an honest man, his presidency was marred with scandal. His vice president, Schuyler Colfax, got a piece of the action in the Crédit Mobilier scandal; it's generally believed he accepted a bribe of cash and stocks in order to get legislation passed favorable to the building of the first transcontinental railroad.

Richard M. Nixon, the only president to resign, clearly broke the law when he obstructed justice in the early days of the Watergate scandal. His vice president, Spiro Agnew, was not involved in that scandal but he had his own deal on the side dating back to his time as governor of Maryland. Agnew accepted bribes from construction contractors. He pleaded no contest to bribery and tax evasion charges, part of his plea deal was to resign as vice president.

Okay, Trumka--is Pence really the "the second worst vice presidential pick in history."

Coup in Turkey against Islamist strongman; Muslim Brotherhood in a business suit

In a still developing story, there has been an attempted coup d'etat by the military against Turkey's Islamist president and strongman, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

I like to think of Erdogan as Muslim Brotherhood in a business suit. He's an incrementalist Islamist, he's tried to criminalize adultery, create alcohol-free zones, and he oversaw the long-time ban in Turkey of Muslim headscarves. He's attacking the secularist tradition of Turkey that was created by the founder of the modern version of that nation, the great Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

The military has taken the role of protector of secular Turkey.

Erdogan was chosen in a free election. Normally I side with democracy, but as with Egypt, where its military overthrew an actual Muslim Brotherhood government, I'm with the troops and the officers in this struggle.

UPDATE 9:50pm: The latest reports are that the coup failed.

Newt Gingrich: Deport every Muslim who believes in sharia

Sharia law, which includes stoning adulterers and amputating the hands of thieves, among other barbaric practices, is what radical Islamic terrorists want to enact world wide.

Newt Gingrich wants to deport Muslims who believes in sharia law.

He proposed that and more on Hannity last night.

At least 84 dead, including 10 children dead in Nice attack, killer from Tunisia

The death toll is now 84 from last night's Nice terror attack when a truck driven by Tunisian-born Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, mowed down revelers for one mile during Bastille Day celebrations in Nice, France.

Among the dead are ten children.

God does not justify the killing of innocents. Some Muslims were also among the victims. One of the murdered Muslims was described as a martyr by another Muslim. A martyr for what?
