Not too far away there was a mass shooting in the Burnside neighborhood where eight people were wounded.
After Memorial Day weekend police superintendant David Brown was patting himself on the back because shootings were down from previous Memorial Day weekends.
He won't be doing so today.

As of June 2 2021 there have been 266 deaths in Chicago. Most of them by guns. Most of them black on black shootings. They can add another 5 to that total, plus any that have been killed since June 2. This is the highest total deaths in Chicago's recent {10 yrs} history. Probably ever.
