The Band- Don't Do It

The reason The Band is viewed as one of the founders of the Americana genre is that they don't just play, let's say, country, rock, or soul. They play all three and more. Here's a soul tune, or if you prefer, R&B.

When Marvin Gaye recorded this song, a Holland-Dozier-Holland composition, it was titled "Baby Don't You Do It." Which is the name of the tune. But for some reason the band trimmed the name to "Don't Do It."

Whatever the name, this rendition by The Band, from 1971, is fabulous.
