My friend Victor Maggio of Bloody Chicago begins a new series today, "In the Line of Duty, Chicago."
Warning: This video contains foul language and graphic violence.
Maggio--without pulling punches--looks at what the CPD endures when confronted by violent criminals.
Sometimes the cops get it wrong, as you'll learn in the case of the fatal police shooting of Paul O'Neill.
Other times police officers jeopardize their safety, such as in the incident of the brutal beating of a cop who chose not to shoot a drugged up criminal because she was afraid to subject herself and her family to negative national scrutiny. That's part the unfortunate fallout after the Laquan McDonald killing.
