Largely but sadly overlooked among the earlier rockers is Fats Domino, who passed away last fall. Fats' recording career goes back to 1950--when rock and roll was simply a rhythm and blues term for sexual intercourse.It was legendary DJ Alan Freed who applied the term to what was then often called "race music."
Here's Domino in, I guess, the 1970s belting out his 1961 hit, "I Hear You Knocking," which Dave Edmunds scored a smash with his version ten years later.
