Leftist Chicago alderman running for guv picks mayor of tiny decaying town as his running mate

Downtown Cairo in 2008
Yes, I haven't been there for nine years but I have no reason believe that Cairo, Illinois hasn't gotten worse. Today Chicago alderman and leftist Democrat Ameya Pawar, who is running for governor, chose Cairo's mayor, Tyrone Coleman, to be his running mate.

Calling Cairo a mini-Detroit is an insult to Detroit--I've been to both towns. Parts of Detroit are on the rebound, Cairo's destiny is rubble, it will be a Pompeii without the volcanic eruption.

And what does Pawar think that Coleman brings to the table for his ticket? Cairo has just 2,800 residents. Over 12 million people live in Illinois.

Oh, here is one of my posts on the little town located where the Ohio and Mississippi rivers meet: Cairo, Illinois--Slum Town.

Obviously he picked the mayor to bring another minority member onto his ticket.
