Chicagoans slugged with another tax hike to pay for pensions

Closed Chicago school
"People have a tendency to blame politicians when things don't work, but as I always tell people, you get the politicians you deserve. And if you don't vote and you don't pay attention, you'll get policies that don't reflect your interest." Barack Obama in 2017.

The Illinois General Assembly approved an education funding bill that will hit Chicagoans with yet another property tax increase. This new tax is one of eight other recent tax hikes foisted upon the beleaguered residents of America's third-largest city, most of these taxes, including this latest one, are to some extent to pay for woefully underfunded municipal worker pensions.

Chicago is a place where citizens support a government, not the other way around. Yet the dopey people who don't pay attention living there keep voting for the same Democratic politicians--or their clones--election after election.

Obama, gasp, is right.

They continue to vote for the same politicians even after death.
