(Video) Isaiah 40 in Chariots of Fire

Considered the favorite passage from the Bible for runners, Isaiah Chapter 40, was brought to the forefront among scripture in the 1981 classic film Chariots Of Fire.

While I am the Marathon Pundit, my mother was a runner too. This morning at her funeral I will read from Isaiah 40, verses 28-31.
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is God from of old,
creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary,
and his knowledge is beyond scrutiny.

He gives power to the faint,
abundant strength to the weak.

Though young men faint and grow weary,
and youths stagger and fall,

They that hope in the LORD will renew their strength,
they will soar on eagles’ wings;
They will run and not grow weary,
walk and not grow faint.
Watch as the Eric Liddell character in Chariots of Fire, portrayed by Ian Charleson, reads this passage and more in one that movie's most touching scenes.
