Chiraq: 3 dead and at least 19 wounded over weekend

South Shore
Super Bowl weekend was a little less bloody than last weekend in Chicago. Three people were murdered--no change there--but just 19 were wounded. (Although that number may creep up today as media reports catch up.) Last weekend 27 people were wounded in Chiraq.

Two of the fatalities were 15-year-old boys. One was killed on the Southwest Side in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood, the other in South Shore.

The third fatality happened in Roseland--where a 27-year-old was slain.

Last week the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms announced it was sending 20 additional agents to Chicago. This move could help in lessening the carnage. But as I've noted before, Chicago has a street gang problem--gun violence is only the symptom.
