Elvis Costello, with Emmylou Harris and Gillian Welch: The Scarlet Tide

Whenever I hear "The Scarlet Tide" by Elvis Cosello this lyric always reminds me of Illinois politics.
Man goes beyond his own decision, gets caught up in a mechanism
Of swindlers who act like kings and brokers who break everything.
House Speaker and state Democratic party boss Mike Madigan--I'm looking at your direction as people continue to flee the Land of Lincoln, especially your base in Chicago.

The song was co-written by T-Bone Burnett. Yes, he's much more than a producer.

Singing back-up with The King in this Grand Ole Opry performance is Emmylou Harris and Gillian Welch.
