Petition seeks to block Trump from speaking at Chicago university where Bill Ayers once taught

Isn't this rich! Republican frontrunner Donald Trump is booked for a speech at the Pavilion at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Okay, that's not the rich part. There is a MoveOn.org petition calling for UIC to cancel the Trump appearance. Well, of course I don't expect the leftists that dominate college campuses to welcome free speech, that right died at universities around the time A Flock of Seagulls had their last hit.

Ah yes, finally, here is the rich part: UIC is where unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist, who bombed the Pentagon, served as a tenured university professor for over twenty years.

A UIC instructor Bryon Sigcho says, "They can choose another venue but a public venue like UIC where we have so much diversity, I don't think it's the proper venue for him."

There is so much diversity at UIC, but it can't allow a little more by having Trump speak there. Of course diversity now means leftism. It means that people of all races, faiths, and sexual orientation deserve to be listened to--as long as what they have to say is standard left-wing fodder.

"Everything was absolutely ideal on the day I bombed the Pentagon," Ayers wrote in Fugitive Days.

That kind of diversity is always welcome on college campuses.

Sorry Donald Trump.

I always find it ironic that the people that scream the loudest about their natural and constitutional rights and your obligation to insure that they are guaranteed and protected are the same ones that attempt to silence any opinion, though or belief that they deem unworthy of their ideology.

I'm still not a Trump fan, but he should be allowed to speak at a public university. Whether his opinion is one that the left agrees with is irrelevant to his ability to voice it. Differences in perspective, belief and political view is one of the things that makes this country great.
