Holiday weekends are typically violent affairs in Chicago and Labor Day weekend was no exception.
Nine people were murdered--one was killed in a stabbing the others were shot to death--and at least 46 others were wounded in shootings in all parts of the city except for the far-Northwest Side.
Not included in the homicide listings is the tragic story of the body parts of a child found in the Garfield Park Lagoon on the West Side--the time of death has not been established.
