Mayweather/Pacquiao fight: Over 600 Cook County Jail guards called in sick over weekend

By most accounts the so called "Fight of the Century" was a dud. But Cook County taxpayers such as myself will pay an unanticipated expense from the fight.

From WGN News:
Did Cook County jail guards play hooky during the big boxing match last weekend?

More than 600 correctional officers called in sick from early Saturday to Sunday morning.

That's more than double the total of other recent weekends and means big overtime bills.

Jail officials suspect most were just watching the Mayweather/Pacquiao Fight of the Century.
These so-called public servants should hang their heads in shame.

The jail is in Chicago--where there are plenty of fights that the guards can watch for free.
