#ThrowBackThursday: Longtime Dem Minow endorses Rauner for governor in Illinois

The vast wasteland
Newton Minow, the John F. Kennedy-era chairman of the FCC, has been a prominent Illinois Democrat since the 1950s. He's best known for his condemnation of television, calling it "a vast wasteland."

Minow announced this spring that he's voting for Republican businessman Bruce Rauner in November. When he did that, he quoted is old boss, JFK, "sometimes party loyalty asks too much."

Incompetence in governing asks too much too.
