2014 Illinois winter |
When asked about Rauner's statements, Illinois' hapless governor, Chicago Democrat Pat Quinn, could only respond with a lie,"With respect to Indiana, I saw that I-65 was closed down for a couple of days during the severe winter, we don't close roads in Illinois."
Oh really?
The Chicago Sun-Times reminds us that Chicago's Lake Shore Drive--and this was a national story--closed down during the Blizzard of 2011 and hundreds of cars were abandoned on the city's premier roadway.
Jumping ahead to 2014, the Herald-Review had this to say about a January snowstorm:
Central Illinois was basically shut down Sunday night and will remain so Monday because of a snowy and bitterly cold winter storm. To follow Rauner on Facebook, click here. To follow him on Twitter, click here.
According to Macon County authorities, most roads are impassable and residents are being urged to stay home.
The Illinois State Police said Sunday night that Interstate highways in the area are impassable and warned motorists that if they traveled and became stranded it may be several hours before help could reach them.
