Beth Jacob Cemetery, a once abandoned Jewish graveyard that was targeted for development for decades, has been maintained by the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago since 2002. The first burial there is believed to have occurred in 1890, the last in 1937. It's believed that about 100 people are interred at Beth Jacob.
Most of the cemetery is located in Morton Grove, about a third of it lies in Niles.
The grounds are surrounded by a wrought iron fence. I captured this photograph yesterday afternoon while standing on a mound of plowed snow.
