John C. Frémont and Kit Carson were the first white Americans to visit Great Salt Lake's Antelope Island--they did so in 1845, when Utah was still part of Mexico.
I particularly enamored by the color contrasts in this photograph that Mrs. Marathon Pundit captured in August. Here you see a blue sky, mountains, the lake, a dry lake bed, desert grasses, and two buffalo.
